During Dubai Games Week, from the 16th to the 21st of November, PLG, Activision and Astro Gaming gave players the chance to show off what it takes to be a competitive player, with over 28’000 AED worth of prize money, and prizes such as brand new Astro Gaming A40 TR Headset wether you were a solo competitor or a team. The event was hosted in a perfectly run competitive environment at Reel Cinemas, the Dubai Mall, where players competed and their fans and supporters watched their skills on cinema screens.
With an entire week to the Call of Duty community this year with a chance for fresh players to emerge and show they have what it takes to compete in the future at a higher level, this was a perfect opportunity to meet others players and share in your passion for everything COD during the launch month of Call of Duty Black Ops III. Starting with the Free-for-All tournament, we hosted daily qualifiers with a combined prize pool of AED 16’000 for each daily champion and runner-up, ending up with a final on the 20th of November for a grand cash prize of AED 4000. Throughout the week, Jabez Samuel J, Mohammed Salem Al-Mansoori, Salman Hayat Khan and Abdulla Al Qershi each emerged as champions winning AED 2000, and the runner-ups - Omar Abdul Hakim, Ibraheem, Ahmed Marco Leutta and Earl Pagdanganan – each won AED 1000. The finals brought these 8 players together in one final FFA match, which saw Abdulla Al Qershi – also known as Team K1 Gaming newly appointed captain – decimate the competition, walking away with a cash prize of AED 4000.
On the team based tournament front, some of the best local Call of Duty teams competed for a prize pool of AED 12’000 on the last day of Dubai Games Week. Previous 2014 Call of Duty Middle East Champions K1 Gaming, as well as some favorites like Pulse Gaming and newcomers Aeon Vici Gaming, Unknown Gamers, Fury and MW all fought for prize and glory in a hardpoint playlist at Reel Cinemas. The tournament saw team K1 Gaming, led by Abdulla Al-Qershi winning the grand prize of AED 10’000, and brand new ASTRO A40 TR Headset + MixAmp Pro TR, followed by runner-up team Pulse Gaming (AED 2000 cash prize).
